1. Personal Profile.
Jevon Antoni-Jay first studied to be a visual artist/designer and musician at Dartington. Then as a dancer at The Royal Ballet UK, and a variety of schools, which included the Balettakademien in Stockholm.
He started his career as a dancer with the Norwegian Ballet and National Ballet of Canada. Then continued to perform as actor/singer in film and theatre productions, amongst which was the rock-musical ‘Hair’.
Later he worked on many major television productions as senior costume designer.
His credits embrace a First Prize in Baden Baden for his contribution to the Television production of the musical ‘Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat’, a BAFTA nom. for ‘Stanley Baxter on Television’ and a Hollywood Music Award for his work on ‘Venus’ for the pop group Bananarama.
Subsequently he gratefully took a scholarship to continue his training as singer-soloist with internationally renowned opera coach Nina Walker. This resulted in many solo classical concerts and soloist roles in operas.
Later experience in social work, working with challenging behaviour, led him to his fascination with our behavioural-evolution. This now motivates his writing of non-linear scripts and poetry, which he creates for his music and theatre projects.
When he has time he produces corporate theatre performance through his company BOX13TROUPE, and when even more time permits he also works on his visual art.
Jevon is now predominately a singer/writer/performer.
His background is that of a classical musician, but one must not forget that he also has strong roots based in the rock and popular music industry. More recently his creative activities had been in the experimental electro-acoustic classical genre. However, he has now moved this even further a field to include roguish electronic jazz, folk, popular, and poetic-oration pieces.
